Just south of Bel-Air in the community of Westwood Village, this sprawling, university that comprises 174 buildings on 419 acres is one of the most respected and highly rated in the world. Among many other honors, its faculty has included Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science winners, Guggenheim Fellowship recipients, Presidential Medal of Freedom winners, and—in 2005—the winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The university offers a wealth of cultural activities even to nonstudents.
