The Association was formed in 1969 “to encourage and promote the appreciation, knowledge, and understanding of Coronado’s unique art, architecture, history, and other historical resources,” according to its mission statement. The museum collection outgrew its historic home on Loma Avenue and relocated to the stately equally as historic Bank of Commerce building in 1999. Besides the museum galleries, the building also house cafes and the Lamb’s Players Theatre, home to San Diego’s only year-round professional theatre group.
