The Gaslamp Quarter

	In the heart of Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is eight blocks long (from Broadway to Harbor Drive) and two blocks wide (from Fourth to Sixth Avenues). It is one of the most outstanding and picturesque examples of the downtown redevelopment project. It consists of beautifully restored Victorian-style buildings constructed between 1873 and 1930. Because it has nearly 100 restaurants (including charming sidewalk cafes), coffee houses, and jammed nightclubs, it has become the center of nightlife in all of San Diego County. The wide brick walkways, which glow under the light of old-fashioned gaslamps, are packed on weekend nights. But there's plenty to do during the day, as well.
