This picturesque 110-acre lake is situated at an elevation of 4,600 feet amid an oak and pine forest. It is bordered on three sides by the 26,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, and 52 percent of that is classified as wilderness. The lake is an angler's paradise because it is stocked with more than 44,000 pounds of fish, including channel catfish, bluegill, sturgeon, Florida bass, and crappie. It is also the only lake in San Diego County that is able to stock trout all year-round. Free fishing classes are offered every Saturday, and motor boats, paddle boats, and canoes are available for rental (on a seasonal basis). There are numerous campsites, as well as cabins with lake views.
