	When eucalyptus proved unsuitable for railroad ties early in Rancho Santa Fe's history, the railroad commissioned local architect Lilian Rice to create a community around the then quaint village plus a guesthouse for prospective land buyers. In her distinctive Spanish Colonial Revival style, she designed the many-roomed guesthouse that she called La Morada. Over the years it evolved gracefully into the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.
