This magnificent Spanish Colonial Revival estate, listed on the National Register of Historic Structures in 1991, was built for San Clemente founder Ole Hanson. Completed in 1928, the Hanson family lived here until 1932, when, following the stock market crash, they were forced to vacate because of foreclosure. It served as a vacation home for a number of families and went through several owners, including the Lambert Schuyler family, who named it Casa Romantica in 1945. Purchased by the city of San Clemente in 1989, the stunning setting is now used as a place for people of all ages to explore and understand Southern California history, architecture, ecology, and culture.
