World-Class Resort
The relaxed atmosphere of Los Cabos makes it a mecca for all sorts of visitors and new residents. Located at the southernmost tip of Baja California, Los Cabos consists of two towns situated 20 miles apart, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The 20-mile stretch between the two towns is called the Corridor and is home to many beautiful beaches and coves, as well as a number of first-class hotels and private developments. The three biggest draws to Los Cabos are its fishing, golfing, and partying opportunities.
Fishing
Because of its prime coastal position, Los Cabos has long been recognized as one of the best places in the world for big game fishing. This is because millions of years ago, a massive earthquake split Baja from mainland Mexico. The Pacific Ocean rushed into the almost 1,000-mile chasm, creating the Sea of Cortez—a fishing trap thanks to its nutrient-rich waters that sometimes reach depths of more than a mile and support some 650-plus species. More marlin are caught in Cabo San Lucas than anywhere.

In the Cabo San Lucas marina, you'll see hundreds of sportfishing boats, filling every available dock slot. These boats range from the fairly primitive vessel to the most luxurious yacht. There are many chartering opportunities. Sportfishing in this area used to be the realm of only the wealthy, beginning in the 1950s when affluent anglers found that the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez were abundant with billfish. Nowadays, just about any visitor can afford to fulfill his or her dream fishing expedition.

Golf
In just a few years, Los Cabos has become one of the world’s hottest golf destinations, and it’s certainly the golf capital of Mexico. It has hosted the PGA Senior Slam Tournament since 1995. There are now five championship courses, with more under construction or in the planning stages. The five were created by some of the masters of golf course design, carved from the desert land, and feature stunning ocean views.
Nightlife
If you're looking for exciting nightlife, Cabo San Lucas is the place. When the sun goes down, the town comes alive with scores of nightclubs to choose from. If it’s quiet you desire, the resorts on the Corridor offer fine and casual dining with a more subdued, relaxing ambiance.
Buying Real Estate
You may fall so madly in love with Los Cabos that you'll want to buy a primary or secondary home there and you won't be alone. Once a sleepy little resort, it has become a favorite with home hunters. That's because roads and air access to the area have improved significantly, and both the private sector and the Mexican government invested heavily.
